About Me
I'm a freelance sound recordist based in Derbyshire in the East Midlands, within easy access to major routes including the M1, M6 and M42. This means I'm not only available for work in the Midlands but I could also be in Manchester in less than 2 hours and London 3.
I have over thirty years experience as a sound recordist working in broadcast, commercial and the corporate world. I have interviewed Royalty, two Prime Ministers and many CEO's of leading World companies. I have recorded sound for documentaries, swung my boom on dramas and set up multiple mics on game shows and conferences. In 2016 I was the production mixer for the film Starfish staring Joanne Froggatt and Tom Riley. This is a true life story of a family who's world is turned upside down when the husband contracts sepsis. As I know the real family, this was a great experience and film to work on.
I am also very well travelled and have worked in countries such as Kenya, Egypt, American, Russia and most of Europe. I have even worked in Birmingham.
I have a good understanding of a lot of todays cameras and have knowledge of Canon, Sony, Arri Alexa, Alexa Mini and Amira and all of the Red collection
I find my work very diverse and extremely interesting. One day I could be interviewing people up a mountain who pray to aliens and the next I could be filming a remote tribe in Benin West Africa. Not only do I thoroughly enjoy my work but I also find it very rewarding. I have had the privilege to work in some fantastic countries and have met some very interesting people.
I also have a small claim to fame. Having worked on several of the UK and Ireland Autoglass commercials, I was asked to record some folio work for the final edit. One of these effects was the sound of the crack which appears on the customer's windscreen. After much thought and experimenting I finally recorded the sound effect. The end client was so pleased with the effect, that it ended up being used worldwide for all of their commercials.
